Event: 08/18/2006
Employee Is Burned with Hot Water in Slip and Fall

At approximately 1:45 p.m. on August 18, 2006, Employee #1, a dishwasher and cook at the Sushi House restaurant, was carrying a 5-gallon pot of hot water and beans to the sink to drain off the water. He slipped on the tile floor and dropped the pot. Hot water splashed up from the pot and he suffered second degree burns to his neck, shoulder, and torso. He was transported to UCSD Burn Center, where he was hospitalized and treated. Further investigation revealed there was not a mat on the floor at the time of the accident.
