Employee Is Injured by Auger While Cleaning Concrete Mixer

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 13, 2004, Employee #1, of Spiniello Construction, was cleaning a concrete mixer and feeder machine at the end of his shift. The machine had been used to apply concrete to the inside of underground water pipes. He entered the machine when the power was off and then it started up suddenly. He received severe lacerations to his foot from the moving auger inside the mixer and was hospitalized.
