Employee Injured When Yarder Crushed Him

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on March 11, 2004, an employee felling trees was working on the landing next to a yarder. He was helping a chaser when a guyline stump failed. This caused multiple guylines to fail which caused the yarder to fall on top of the employee. The yarder landed on his lower body and he was trapped. Once the yarder was picked up off of him, he was transported to a local hospital. He was hospitalized with a fractured pelvis, back and femur.
