Employee Is Killed When Mower Overturned and Fell in Pond

On September 18, 2003, an employee was mowing around a pond at an apartment complex when for some unknown reason the Dixie Chopper he was using went into the pond flipping over and pinning the employee underneath. The employee was in the water approximately 30-35 minutes before being noticed by coworkers. The employee was pronounced dead at the scene. The employee had been doing the mowing job for the past three years. There were three coworkers working at the same site, two used trimmers and one other mower. There was no reason for the employee to be close to the pond, the ground was dry.
