Employee Is Injured When Struck by Metal Shim

On January 27, 2005, Employee #1, a forging machine operator, was placing a metal shim between two forging dies in order to strike them apart. The shim shot out from between the two dies and struck Employee #1 in the upper thigh portion of his right leg. Employee #1 was transported to a local medical facility and treated for serious lacerations.
