Employee Injures Arm in Ribbon Blender

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on July 25, 2003, Employee #1 was cleaning up on a berry processing line. The supervisor informed him to wash out the ribbon blender and then left. Employee #1 lifted the lid of the blender while the machine was still running. He then placed a hose inside the blender to wash it out. The hose wrapped around the blender blade, pulling the hose and Employee #1's right arm into it. Employee #1 sustained soft tissue damage to his right arm and was hospitalized.
