Employee Is Injured When Her Thumb Was Caught in Machinery

At approximately 5:30 p.m. on April 12, 2004, an employee was operating a skinless sausage making machine. The employee had been working without the side panel guards in place that are designed to protect workers from the slide machinery action that advances the paper and presses the sausage through the tube forms. The employee was clearing a paper jam when her thumb was caught in the machinery and was severely lacerated.
