Employee Is Injured While Operating Wrapping Machine

On September 9, 2006, Employee #1 was operating a KHS Kayat wrapping machine, when plastic film got stuck on the rollers inside the machine. Employee #1 attempted to remove the stuck film by striking the machine with his right hand. Without locking out the machine, Employee #1 then began to pull the plastic from the machine. The blade that cuts the plastic film turned and came into contact with Employee #1's right thumb and index finger. Employee #1 was taken to a local hospital, where he was hospitalized and treated for an amputated index finger on his right hand.
