Employee Amputates Tip of Finger in Machine Accident

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on August 6, 2005, an employee working for Ruiz Foods was feeding a ten-pack of burritos into a plastic film-wrapping machine. The employee placed her hand under the equipment guard, and she contacted the film-cutting blade where her right middle finger was badly cut. The employee was treated at University Medical Center but she was not hospitalized. A plastic surgeon removed some bone mass from her fingertip.
