One Employee killed, One Employee injured in trench collapse

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 15, 2003, Employees #1 and #2 were installing sewer pipes in a trench approximately 7 to 8 ft deep. The east side wall of the trench collapsed. The unstable soil from the cave-in engulfed both employees. Employee #1 was killed. Employee #2 was hospitalized with a broken pelvic bone, two broken femur bones, internal injuries, and several bruises. NOTE:Only one injury line, should be two.
