Employee injured in fall and subsequently dies

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 30, 2002, Employee #1 twisted his foot and fell to the ground while carrying buckets of paint up a dirt hill at a residential construction site. He reported for work the next day, but returned home an hour later due to his injury Employee #1 was then admitted to the University Medical Center complaining of leg pain. While in the ambulatory care unit, Employee #1 became unresponsive and was transported to the emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 7:45 p.m. The University Medical Center's records indicated that health-related issues may have contributed to his death. The investigation concluded that there was insufficient evidence to classify the employee's death as job-related.
