Employee Is Pinned by Vehicle and Suffers Fractures

At about 730 a.m. on September 30, 2005, Employee #1, of City of Long Beach Public Works, was performing his duties for the environmental services department. He was pinned (crushed) in between a trash bin of a private business and the mobile compactor trash truck, driven by Employee #2. While it was backing-up to the trash bin Employee #2 felt a bump. So he stopped the truck and went out to investigate. He saw Employee #1 was crushed and had already fallen on to the ground. Employee #2, with some help from a bystander, informed his management. Police and paramedics responded to the accident site, and Employee #1 was rushed to St. Mary's hospital for treatment of unspecified fractures.
