Investigation Summary
On February 10, 2003, Employee #1, a clerk, was trapped in a burning building by an iron bar security gate that was routinely locked during business hours. He would pass merchandise like soda and candy out through the bars and customers would pass their money in through the bars. During the fire, neighbors responded to Employee #1's screams for help opening the barred door. A truck driver used his vehicle to pull the iron bars off the doorway. Employee #1 was transported to a local hospital, where he died later that day. Investigators suspect arson was the cause of the fire.
