Employee burned in fall into hydrapulper, later dies

On July 29, 2002, Employee #1, a pulper operator for a manufacturer of clay-coated recycled paper, apparently fell into the hydrapulper, a machine that processed wastepaper into pulp. The temperature of the pulp was approximately 180 degrees Fahrenheit and he sustained second-degree and third-degree burns over 80 percent to 90 percent of his body. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital where he died the following day. There were no witnesses to the accident.
