Employee asphyxiated when steel beam fell upon him

On February 18, 2002, Employee #1 was offloading an I-beam component for a steel structure. As he unloaded the component, a load of steel beams came loose from a rigging above him. They fell with one of the steel beams striking him and knocking him down. Another beam struck the edge of the trailer and fell upon his back, pinning him to the floor of the trailer. The weight of the steel beam inhibited his breathing and caused him to die from asphyxia.
