On March 27, 2002, an Asplundh tree trimming crew was performing tree trimming work along a rural highway. The crew's truck was parked with outriggers deployed, occupying one lane of the two lane road. Cones or warning signs were not deployed to warn oncoming vehicles. The accident occurred when an automobile struck and killed Employee #1 while he was standing in front of the crew's truck. No reflective vest was worn by Employee #1.
