Employee Killed When Tree Fell On Track Hoe

On September 15, 2001, Employee #1 was in a track hoe attempting to push over a tree (approximately 36-in. to 38-in. in diameter). Employee #1 was working on an approximate 40-degree to 45-degree slope attempting to push the tree uphill toward the street at the location. Employee #1 had driven the track hoe to the underside of the tree and was positioning the track hoe to perform the work. When Employee #1 started to push the tree over, the tree fell back onto the track hoe with Employee #1 in the cab. Employee #1 suffered a concussion and died.
