Employee Trapped in a Trench Cave-In

An employee was working in a 9 foot deep trench, in a section outside a trench box. .A 21 foot section of the trench wall collapsed trapping the employee for approximately four (4) hours. The employee suffered pelvic and chest injuries as a result of the collapse. The employee was extricated by a rescue team and flown in a police helicopter to a hospital shock trauma unit.
