Employee Lost Thumb Using Unguarded Saw Blade

Employee #1, a carpenter at a construction site, lost the tip of his left thumb when he accidentally ran the tip of his thumb into an unguarded saw blade while making a rip cut with a plywood. The plywood measured ten feet by six inches by one-quarter inch. The crew was constructing a movie stage set in a vacant building. Employee #1 went to a local hospital for treatment.
