Employees injured when tent span collapses on them

Employee #1 and Employee #2 were dismantling a 60-ft-wide by 24-ft-high by 105-ft-long clear span tent system. They were following the manufactures recommendations but were not wearing head protection. They were lowering one of the extruded aluminum span sections using ropes, poles, and a gin pole. A turnbuckle connecting a rope to the gin pole failed resulting in loss of control of the beam. The beam section fell, striking both Employees on their heads. Employee #1 received a concussion and Employee #2 was hospitalized with an amputation of his ear.
