Employee killed when buggy crashes into boom

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on December 5, 2000, Employee #1 was driving a golf cart-type buggy down a temporary aisleway toward another work site within the building. He started to turn left to return to the main aisleway, but drove into a 32 ft long by 10 in. square skim boom that weighed approximately 3,500 lb. He sustained a crushing blow to the head, which became pinned against the back of the cab. Employee #1 was transported to the Blount Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
