Employee Fractured Bones When Shoe Lace Was Caught on Metal

Employee #1 fractured some bones when his shoelace became caught on the metal or the bolt causing him to fall. Employee #1 was erecting horizontal pieces of structural steel for a new office building. A horizontal I-beam had been lifted by a crane and was being bolted up. Employee #1 had just placed one bolt in the horizontal structural steel and was moving around a vertical column to sit on the beam and install the other bolts. As he was moving, his shoelace became caught on the metal or the bolt causing him to lose his balance and falling 11 feet 5.5 inches to the concrete surface. Employee #1 went to a local hospital for treatment.
