Employee's hand injured when struck by a spindle

On September 22, 2001, Employee #1 of the Orian Rugs, Inc. was performing his normal job duties as a machine operator. He noticed that the filler tubes on the machine were not loaded correctly and he reached into the machine to readjust the tubes when the machine cycled. Employee #1 was struck by a spindle and sustained a laceration to the top of his right hand, between the first and second finger. He was not hospitalized.
