Employee injured when hand caught in capper machine

On March 27, 2002, Employee #1 was cleaning oil from the Alcoa Capper Machine with a Scotch Bright pad while the machine was running. While cleaning the machine, the capper chuck came around and caught Employee #1's left hand and glove. Employee #1 was able to remove his hand from the machine, but Employee #1 broke the first metacarpal of his hand and mangled the muscle in his left hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized with a fracture.
