Employee trapped when trench collaped

A 23 year-old backhoe operator was digging a trench when the bucket struck a pipe. He left his machine and entered the excavation site to check potential pipe damage done by the backhoe bucket. He was trapped when the trench collapsed. He was rescued and hospitalized for asphyxia.
