Four employees injured when wood truss frames collapsed

Four employees were injured while installing wood trusses on a wood frame structure, when the structure collapsed. All four employees were working at a height of 10 feet. The trusses were designed for a flat roof, with a 60-foot clear span between the wall headers. The 25 placed trusses collapsed to the concrete floor below, landing on a fifth employee, who escaped injury. The four employees working on the truss cords, or on the top plates, were injured in varying degrees. Employee #1 and Employee #3 suffered a fracture and were hospitalized. Employee #2 suffered a sprain and Employee #4 had a laceration, but both were not hospitalized.
