Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 200350932
Event: 02/25/1999
ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH OVERHEAD LINE

An employee was transferring an overhead power line from an old pole to a new one. After completing most of the work, the employee removed his leather protectors and rubber insulating gloves and donned an old pair of leather gloves. He then used a gasoline-powered chain saw to cut the top off the old pole. As he was reenergizing the transformer on the new pole, he contacted the power line and was electrocuted. (He had entry and exit wounds on his left and right hands at the intersections of his thumbs and fore fingers.)
