Employee Suffers Amputation of Thumb

On December 1, 1998, Employee #1 was loading Christmas trees in the back of a truck. As Employee #1 was waiting for more trees to come up the conveyor, his glove get caught by the shaft of a gear box on the conveyor. Employee #1's hand was pulled into the gear box and he suffered the amputation of his thumb. A coworker helped to get Employee #1 out of the conveyor and another coworker took the thumb and immediately iced it so that the hospital would have a better chance of reattaching it. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital and admitted for treatment of his injuries.
