Event: 04/28/1998
Employee killed in fall from ladder

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on April 28, 1998, Employee #1 was on a ladder, removing shutters from the windows of a house prior to painting when he lost his balance and fell backward. He tried unsuccessfully to grab the ladder or one of the shutters, but fell approximately 20 ft, striking the back of his head on the concrete pavement as he landed. He suffered massive head injuries and was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he was put on life support. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 29, 1998, his family decided to remove the life support system; he was pronounced dead at 10:35 a.m.
