Investigation Summary
On July 27, 2004, a police officer was driving westbound on the Northern State Parkway on Long Island, NY. He lost control of his police cruiser and drove the vehicle off the road hitting a guardrail and drove into a tree. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via a Suffolk County Police Medical Evacuation Helicopter. The police officer succumbed to the injuries he sustained and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
