CONSTRUCTION EMPLOYEE KILLED IN FALL FROM STEEL BEAM

DURING THE PAINTING OF A STRUCTURAL STEEL TIERED STRUCTURE, EMPLOYEE #1 NEEDED TO RELOCATE THE BOATSWAIN'S CHAIR RIGGING. HE WAS DOING THIS WHILE STANDING ON AN "I" BEAM WITHOUT HIS SAFETY LANYARD ATTACHED. THE RIGGING CAUGHT ON SOME OBJECT. WHEN THE EMPLOYEE JERKED THE ROPE TO LOOSEN IT HE LOST HIS BALANCE AND FELL 94 FEET TO HIS DEATH.
