Employee burned while lighting propane water heater

Employee #1 was lighting a floor-mounted propane water heater. There was apparently some residual gas in the room when he attempted to light the pilot flame. A flashover engulfed him, and he sustained burns to his face, arms, and parts of his right leg. Employee #1 drove approximately 3 miles to the office, from where medical care was summoned.
