Employee falls from scaffold

At approximately 7:00 a.m. on June 5, 2003, Employee #1 started his shift at the shipbuilding facility, Nassco. Employee #1 was assigned to remove scaffolding from a section of ship hull. He climbed the longs of this section because the scissor lift did not work, in order to remove the last section of scaffold. The platform height was approximately 12 ft. He fell from the scaffold plank and was injured. The injuries included a laceration to his left lower leg, and upper shoulder pain. Employee #1 was transported to UCSD Medical Center and was hospitalized.
