Employee injured by fall

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on March 7, 2003, Employee #1, a 47-year-old carpenter, was using a 6-foot-tall fiberglass ladder to patch screw holes on the exterior walls of a newly constructed building in preparation for painting. The building was made up of wood and metal materials and was 30-feet wide by 40-feet tall. The roof was an ark-type and reached 14 feet in height at its peak. Upon completion of patching above a doorway, Employee #1 started to climb down the ladder. For some reason, he twisted his left ankle on the third rung and lost his balance. Employee #1 fell to the ground, landing on his left side. He was hospitalized and treated for a fractured left leg, which required surgery. Employee #1 was released five days later
