Employee's Thumb is Amputated While Using A Table Saw

On November 21, 2003 Employee #1 was told by a coworker to cut some wood strips on a table saw. Employee #1's supervisor was not available at this time, so Employee #1 proceeded to cut the wood strips as he was told. The blade guard had been removed from the 10-in. Delta table saw, Model Number 34-444, so numerous pieces of sheeting could be cut at the same time. Employee #1 amputated his right thumb while he was cutting sheets of wood into strips. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for his injuries.
