Employee Killed By A Falling Tree

Employee #1 died when the top half of palm tree struck him. Employee #1 and two other employees were cutting down hard wood trees in an isolated location three miles from the main highway. Examination of the site revealed that the employees had cleared many trees which may have been rotten or infested. Employee #1 was cutting down a 50-foot-high oak tree. When the oak tree fell, it struck a 45-foot-high palm tree. The impact broke off the top half of the palm tree, and the top half killed Employee #1. The other two employees discovered him later. No witnesses observed the incident.
