Event: 07/25/2005
Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

On July 25, 2005, Employee #1 was working in the tape and plaster department of a production facility for modular homes. He placed a mobile work platform against the side of a modular home, which was on wheels. Employee #1 believed the wheels were in the locked position. He then placed a 6-foot-tall stepladder on the work platform and leaned it against the home to reach its ridgeline. While climbing up the ladder, the mobile work platform rolled backwards, causing the ladder and Employee #1 to fall. Emergency services were called and Employee #1 was transported to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, where he was hospitalized and treated for several fractured ribs, and lacerations to his head and hand.
