Employee Amputates Finger in Cut Off Saw

On February 14, 2005, Employee #1, a sawyer, was using a frame line saw, a hydraulically powered swing cut-off saw, to cut 2-in. by 4-in. material to size. While aligning the material along the fence, his hand came into contact with the blade of the saw. Part of his left index finger was amputated. He does not know why he touched the blade and stated that the saw was properly guarded during use. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
