Event: 01/31/2005
Employee Is Hospitalized with Head Injury Sustained in Fall

On January 31, 2005, Employee #1, an electrician with Country Bear Electric Inc., was working with a coworker replacing a light bulb in a 5.5 in. square outside light pole. The coworker was holding the extension ladder as Employee #1 climbed and then descended to get a replacement light bulb. Again, Employee #1 climbed the ladder, but this time without his coworker holding the ladder. The ladder started sliding to the side and the employee jumped clear of the falling ladder; however, he landed on the edge of a planter and fell onto the asphalt parking lot. The City of Davis Fire Department responded and transported the employee to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The employee was admitted to the hospital for treatment of head trauma and fractures to his left ankle, wrist, and cheek.
