Employee Is Injured When His Foot Is Run over by Forklift

At approximately 11:20 a.m. on December 22, 2003, an employee and a coworker were working for a framing contractor involved in the construction of a tract of single family residential structures. The accident occurred while employee was walking along a newly paved street and serving as a spotter for a "Gradall, Model Number534D9-45, Serial Number 0644184 that was carrying prefabricated roof four trusses to be used in a new home under construction. The employee and the "Gradall" were traveling along a parallel track and moving at walking speed when the accident occurred. The employee had a tag line tied to the trusses to provide stability to the trusses in during transit and neither he nor the "Gradall" operator were aware of the close proximity of the employee's right foot and ankle when the left front tire struck and ran over the employee's right foot. The employee was hospitalized for 9 days as a result of this accident.
