Employee is injured when hand crushed by conveyor rollers

At 9:50 p.m. on July 16, 2003, Employee #1, a material handler employed on the "B" Shift of a snack food company, sustained a severe crushing injury to the left hand when he intentionally used his hand to dislodge a cardboard product box that had become stuck between the end of a conveyor belt and the proximal edge of a stationary non-powered roller. Employee #1 was surgically treated at the San Antonio Medical Center. Treatment consisted of musculoskeletal and dermal reconstruction of the hand.
