Employee Falls from Ladder and Fractures Leg

On April 7, 2007, Employee #1, a maintenance supervisor, was attempting to access the roof in order to turn off the disconnect switch for one of the air conditioning units which was producing burning odors. He went to the second floor and exited to the roof through the door. He stepped out on to the lower roof level and climbed a built in ladder up to the second level, 12 ft. He climb all the way up and was reaching for the side rails above the roof, when he lost his grip. He fell to the lower roof and was able to stop himself from falling off that roof level. He received a compound fracture of his right leg and was hospitalized.
