Employee's Leg Is Partially Amputed by Auger

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on October 6, 2005, Employee #1 and his supervisor, who was operating the PHD 400 tractor, Serial Number 3C PHD400X413907, were digging holes for the greenhouse poles, and had approximately 100 holes done. Employee #1 had his hands on the handle and was standing 2 feet away from the auger, when his pant leg became caught in the auger, which swung him around and injured his left leg. Employee #1 was taken to St. John Hospital, where his left leg was amputated to the upper thigh, and he remained hospitalized for over a month.
