Employee Is Injured by Falling Roll of Roofing Material

At 7:15 a.m. on October 4, 2005, Employee #1 was working at a jobsite for Olympic Roofing. He had started working that day at 6:00 a.m. at the company yard and had gone to the jobsite at 6:30 a.m. He was on the ground, in a parking area between two buildings. He was waiting for a coworker, who was on the roof of one of the buildings, which was three stories tall. His coworker was carrying an 80 lb. roll of roofing material to the edge of the roof, when he slipped. He dropped the roll, which fell and hit the Employee #1 on the shoulder. Employee #1 sustained contusions to his shoulder and suffered from severe back and neck pain. Employee #1 was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was hospitalized for three days. There were no actual witnesses to the accident.
