Investigation Summary
Employee #1, a laborer, was working alone and operating a trim saw. The machine had two saw blades that cut the ends of a piece of wood at the same time and at a predetermined length. The employee was not standing in the location as instructed during training and the leather glove of her left hand became caught between the chain conveyor and channel side. The wood on the moving conveyor caught up with the employee's glove before she could remove her hand and her little finger was pinched and amputated at the first knuckle.
