Employee Suffers Finger Amputation Using Table Saw

Employee #1 was operating an Italian-made SCMI table saw without the spreader while cutting particle board. The spreader had been damaged and removed awaiting a new part. An anti-kick back device was not present on the table saw. The cut was in progress when the wood started to twist and kicked up the guard positioned over the blade. Employee #1's finger came into contact with the exposed blade amputating the little finger of the left hand. Employee #1 was treated for his injuries but was not hospitalized.
