Employee falls from ladder

At or about 10:30 a.m. on July 14, 2001, Employee #1 was working at Ranch Grace Farms as an avocado picker harvesting avocados. The worker secured the footings of his ladder, placed it against a branch of an avocado tree, and climbed about 18 to 20 feet up. While on the ladder, he tried to reach out to the right for an avocado the weight of the bag he was carrying was loaded with avocados it switched the center of gravity from under the victim's feet to the side. The ladder suddenly moved to the left causing him to lose his balance and fall. He landed on his buttocks onto hard compacted soil. No one witnessed the accident. After the worker fell, a coworker called for the other workers at the site for help. The worker was transported to Saint John Hospital and later admitted.
