Employee injured when struck by tree branch

At 12:00 noon on January 23, 2001, Employee #1 had an accident. Employee #1 is employed by a golf course and does gardening work. He was requested by his supervisor to do some tree trimming on a gum tree. The branches had all been trimmed and at the time of the accident, Employee #1 was on the ground trimming the branches and cutting the branches into small pieces. One of the larger branches was propped against the trunk of the tree. As he was trimming this branch, it began to roll and Employee #1 started to run away but the branch hit him in the left ankle. Employee #1 broke his left ankle and was taken to the hospital where he stayed for 2 to 2.5 days.
