Employee injured in fall from ladder

At 10:30 a.m. on December 7, 2002, Employee #1, a regular employee and superintendent on this job, was utilizing a piece or top section of a broken fiberglass extension ladder to gain access to a garage roof line on a residential home. The employer is in the business of installing rain gutter systems on residential homes. Employees were installing rain gutters to this home. Employee #1 climbed up the ladder section, which was not equipped with non-slip feet or any other method to prevent the displacement of the ladder. Employee #1 was working 8 feet above the concrete driveway when the ladder slipped on the concrete and Employee #1 fell to the ground. Employee #1 suffered multiple fractures to his left wrist, a concussion and serious head lacerations. Employee #1 was hospitalized for 3 days.
