Employee Injured By Falling Object

At approximately 12:00 p.m. December 18, 2000, Employee #1 was in the furnace area preparing to load wire coils onto a wire stand for a customer shipment. Employee #1 removed coils from the annealing furnace and placed two against a wooden pole to prepare them to be put on a wire stand. Employee #1 got a forklift with a wire stand on the end of the forklift attachment and placed one coil on the wire stand and began inspecting the coil. As Employee #1 was inspecting the coil on the wire stand, the other coil leaning against the pole fell and stuck his right foot. Employee #1 sustained two broken toes, a heel fracture, and a cut to the bottom of his foot. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
